Question:
What should be done when a disk error is detected for a RAID 1, 5, or 6 configuration?
Answer:
Take out the failed drive and replace (hot-swap) it with a new one of the same model, or one with the same or larger size.
There is no need to turn off the Ciphertex NAS when replacing the drive.
To replace the failed disk with a different model, make sure the new disk is larger in size than the old one.
However, only the size of the old drive will be used for the new one.
The extra size of the new drive will not be used.
