Question:

What is the definition of Hard Disk Drive SMART status Abnormal, Normal, and Good?

Answer:

Abnormal -
a. Any SMART value is equal or greater than the threshold value.
b. Hard Disk temperature is higher than 65 degree C.

Normal -
a. Any Smart value is equal or less than threshold + (initial_SMART_value - threshold)/2.  For example, if the initial SMART value is 100, the current value is 50, the threshold is 20, then the Smart value, 50, is less than 20+(100-20)/2.  Thus, the health level would be Normal.
b. Any SMART test result (Rapid or Complete) of the last 20 times is abnormal.
c. The Hard Disk temperature is between 55 to 65 degree C.

Good -
None of the above conditions.
