How does the Ciphertex NAS encrypt the built-in Hard-drives? How do I unlock?
The enhanced encryption technology uses AES-256 to encrypt disk volumes.
The 8-16 character long user-created passphrase, and the generated Key file created with the Web Management GUI, will create the encrypted disk volume based on the Linux LUKS mechanism.
When the NAS reboots each time and before data can be accessed, the encrypted disk volume must be mounted with the input of the passphrase or the key file through the Web Management GUI.
On the other hand, users can also choose to store the Key file in the NAS for automatic unlock upon each reboot, without the manual input each time.
