Unable to copy folder named 'Thevolumesettingsfolder' to the NAS.

Question:

I created a directory named "Thevolumesettingsfolder" on the drive C: of the Windows PC. I tried to copy this folder to the shared drive on the NAS but there was an error message. Why?

 

Answer:

The file name "Thevolumesettingsfolder" is reserved for Mac computers. You cannot copy the folder via Windows.

 

Another reserved folder name for Mac is:

.AppleDB/.AppleDouble/.AppleDesktop/.DS_Store/:2eDS_Store/Network Trash Folder/Temporary Items
